Approach

Learning to change and grow is a life-changing experience.

To enable this process to occur, the alliance between client and counsellor/coach provides the basis for the work ahead. It fosters a safe and supportive environment that allows one to explore life’s challenges in a constructive and non-judgemental manner. At Mindhaus, we believe that the quality of the relationship very much determines the outcome of the work.

The ability to explore one’s life in this environment, allows for a deeper and more meaningful way to achieve self-awareness. When awareness occurs, change follows as it spreads to everything that we do, thus strengthening and reaffirming our sense of self.

At Mindhaus, we’re experienced with working with a wide range of client-specific requirements. Although we work in a person-centred manner utilising methods from a plethora of psychotherapeutic modalities and coaching approaches in our practice, it is the existential approach with its philosophical framework encompassing universal human concerns that informs our interventions and assists in understanding the client’s unique lived experience and respective challenges. This allows the work to focus on the client rather than solely on the presenting symptoms or issues being experienced. Equally, we believe that being skilled in counselling and coaching can provide the right levels of support to clients either struggling to integrate experiences and feelings from the past or towards focusing on their aspirations and achievement of specific goals in the future.

We treat our work with clients as a shared journey. This starts with establishing a deep connection that enables the work to begin and continues until the client achieves self-awareness, which allows them to reflect and decide on the best way forward. The ability to freely choose the direction they want their lives to take, ultimately makes clients responsible for their own destiny and empowers them through their choices.

If you feel like you’re in need of a helping hand with realising your potential or you’re struggling to understand or resolve some aspects of your life, and need someone with whom you can share this with in a way that helps you see yourself and others clearer, then this service is for you. Our time together can help with finding a more effective way to live a fuller and more meaningful life.

Ioannes Alexiades - Mindhaus Counselling

Ioannes Alexiades

PGDip, BSc, MA, MSc, MBACP (Accred), MAC

I came to counselling as a second career having spent over two decades working as a Consultant in the corporate sector. It was during this period that I gained extensive experience of mentoring and coaching others but it was my own personal experience of therapy that was transformational which ultimately allowed me to pursue counselling as a career. Currently, I provide counselling and coaching to private clients and am an Associate with Healthy You Limited where I provide executive and leadership coaching to organisations. In addition, I have worked with charities and organisations such as the NHS, PositivelyUK, Terrence Higgins Trust, and Dilemma Consultancy.

I started my counselling training at the Metanoia Institute in London before embarking on an Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling Doctorate Programme at NSPC/Middlesex University. More recently, I have completed my studies at the University of East London (UEL) on their leading-edge Integrative Counselling and Coaching postgraduate programme where I am continuing to provide clinical supervision to those in their final year of study.

As your counsellor and coach, I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (MBACP) and a member of the Association for Coaching (MAC). In addition, I work as part of the Executive of the Coaching Division and Chair of the Supervision Special Interest Group of the BACP. Finally, I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) to ensure that my practice complies to the highest standards of data protection and client confidentiality and I hold an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service Certificate (DBS).

I believe that I have reached a point in my life, where my work and life experience coupled with my counselling and coaching related training have equipped me with the skills and insight to focus my energy and time on helping you find yourself again.
